The Challenge
Problem Statement:
The client required a crane solution to lift a 1100T bridge section that was 40 m long, 12.4 m wide, and weighed up to 1100 tons.
Key Requirements:
A very high-capacity crane capable of handling heavy loads for long durations; a strong design that could withstand wind loads and harsh environments; precise control while handling bridge sections; and sufficient longevity to last the entire project duration.
Our Solution
Overview:
We designed 2 × 550T capacity gantry cranes that work in tandem through Wi-Fi to lift the bridge precast sections.
Design Highlights:
Interconnectivity of the gantry cranes to ensure synchronized lifting and movement; a sturdy design for precise handling in harsh environments; and an extremely large structure compared to regular gantry cranes (Span: 38 m, Height of Lift: 40 m).

Timeline: 10 months
Certifications & Safety:
FEM, IS 3177, IS 807. The design was procured from a German company, IBS, which supplied GA drawings and structural calculations. The entire design was analysed using ANSYS software for static calculations. The project timeline was 10 months and was completed on time, which is a major accomplishment for cranes requiring ANSYS simulations. All relevant FEM and IS standards were followed.
